Braemar Castle is just down the road and worth visiting. It has recently been taken over by the Braemar Community Ltd. The castle is open at weekends, although meantime on a reduced scale. The company is hoping to refurbish the interior and incorporate lots of new features, all representative of the area. It is an exciting venture which may take some time but the castle will be open for you to view the progress and suggestions are always welcome. Just 7 miles down the road is Balmoral Castle, which is open to the public during the summer months when the royals are not in residence. It is worth taking time to wander round the extensive grounds and gardens as well as visit the castle, display areas and shops.
